Drain & Sewer Cleaning Using High Pressure Water
Course Description
This is a practical training course with assessments in the use of jetting equipment in drain, sewer & surface cleaning operations
Who Will Benefit
Those involved in, or about to become involved in, the use & supervision of high pressure water jetting equipment for cleaning drains, sewers, pipes, culverts, tanks & manholes
Purpose
To provide practical training in the safe, effective use of jetting equipment & in the supervision of jetting equipment & operations
Training Coverage
- Identification of potential hazards
- Setting up equipment with regard to the safety of operators, other staff & the public
- Hands on experience using equipment effectively & safely
- Immediate procedures to adopt in the event of injury by the impact of a water jet
- Nozzle selection with regard to the correct application
- Precautions to be taken when using a mains water supply
- How to identify & set up a safe system of work when jetting as required by the H & S at Work Act
- Selection of the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment with regard to the P.P.E. Regulations 1992
- Knowledge of the Sewer Jetting Code of Practice as published by the WRc, June 1997
Qualification
Certificates of Training Achievement & ID Cards from Energy & Utility Skills will be awarded to those trainees who successfully pass the theoretical & practical sessions with also mandatory registration onto the EU Skills Registration database
Duration
2 Day Course – 8.30am – 4.30pm both days with a 30 minute break for lunch

Requirements
- Delegates must provide their own PPE including safety footwear, waterproof clothing, hard hat & working gloves
- Customer to provide own tanker which must be in a good & safe working order
- Classroom/crew room will be required
